Writing in Nature - Photos

I can often be found snapping a photo before settling down to write on the cliffs or on the beach.

Note: I took most of these photos using a smartphone. I haven't edited them beyond the basic straightening and cropping. The colours are as you see them.

Old Cornish mine above a beach

Wheal Coates engine house stands on the cliff above Chapel Porth. This served the mine that stretches out below the sea. It pumped out the water.

Mine engine house on cliffs above beach

Taken from the sand, this picture shows Wheal Coates engine house standing high on the cliff.

Double rainbow over beach

A beautiful double rainbow appeared at Porthtowan just after I finished drafting a particularly dark part of my book The Lamp Room.

Sunset on a beach

This photo of sunset at Porthtowan was the front cover of one of my first short stories. It holds a special place in my heart.

Children on a cliff overlooking the stormy sea

I love this photo I took of my nieces and their friend back in 2019. It looks a lot more dramatic than it was! They were safe.
