Being in nature is extremely important to me and supports my creativity. I’ll often be found snapping a photo before settling down to write on the cliffs or on the beach.
I took most of these photos using a smartphone. I haven't edited them beyond the basic straightening and cropping. The colours are as you see them.
Wheal Coates engine house stands on the cliff above Chapel Porth. This served the mine that stretches out below the sea. It pumped out the water.
I took this photo of a grove of trees reflecting in a pool of clear water in Perth, Australia. The water was so still that it created an optical illusion, making it hard to distinguish reflection from the real thing.
I love this photo I took of my nieces and their friend back in 2019. It looks a lot more dramatic than it was! They were safe.
I took this photo abroad (non UK). The twinkling of the light on the waves draws me in.
Possibly one of my favourite photos, this is the harbour on Easter Island. You can spot an Easter Island head on the left. We’d gone down to the boats to see if there were any turtles resting underneath.
Taken from the sand, this picture shows Wheal Coates engine house standing high on the cliff.
